There's More to do Besides Lying on the Spectacular Waterfront in Laguna Beach, CA

The popular seaside community of Laguna Beach was established along the southernmost west coast. The land transferred to the United States from Mexico after the Mexican-American War. Pioneers began arriving after the Civil War ended and obtained grants to establish homesteads and plant trees. Today, Laguna Beach is renowned for its tropical climate, scenic views and environmental conservation. The Laguna Art Museum, the Pacific Marine Mammal Center and whale watching excursions are popular with guests.

Things To Do

For six days in February, guests enjoy the concerts presented during the annual Laguna Beach Music Festival. The event features classical and contemporary music performances at the Laguna Playhouse. The festivities also typically include a number of additional events.

From the first week in July through the end of September, Laguna Beach presents the unusual Pageant of the Masters event. The unique event enables guests to view living pictures presented by costumed performers who replicate classical or contemporary masterpieces. An amphitheater provides orchestrated music and live narration of each set. Guests are also invited to view a traditional art show and enjoy a glass of wine.

The Sawdust Arts & Crafts Festival runs from the end of June and into the first weekend of September. Hundreds of thousands attend the annual event, which features a handcrafted village filled with fine arts. Hundreds of artists display their works. Along with the art show, guests also enjoy live entertainment provided by three stages. There are also artist demonstrations, interactive workshops and refreshments.

In August, skimboarders arrive to compete in the annual World Championship of Skimboarding in Aliso Beach Park. Spectators cheer for their favorite athletes as each catches a wave and performs tricks in attempts at winning the title. Vendors offer food and merchandise on site.

For four days in the middle of September, fans of dance enjoy the performances provided during the annual Laguna Dance Festival. The event treats audiences to world-class performances provided by international and national dance companies at the Laguna Playhouse."
