Experience the Friendly Cultural Environment of Fort Wayne, Indiana

Fort Wayne, IN had humble beginnings as a trading post constructed by the United States Army in 1794. Since that time, the settlement grew into a thriving metropolis that won recognition as being an "All American City" for three years. A combination of boutique shops, art and cultural facilities, museums, animal exhibits and 86 parks mean that the community has plenty to offer visitors.

Things to do

In celebration of city's location along the confluence of the Maumee, St. Marys and St. Joseph Rivers, Fort Wayne residents host the annual nine day Three Rivers Festival every July. Hundreds of events includes a parade, amusement rides, food eating contests, races and culminates with a fireworks display.

For six days every July, the fairgrounds come to life during the Allen County Fair. Animal exhibits, craft shows, a carnival, food court, friendly competitions and live entertainment provide enjoyment for guests of all ages.

In an effort to raise money for local charities, the Fort Wayne hosts the annual BAALS Music Festival in August. Dozens of DJs provide the entertainment that involves various genres of electronic dance music. The event also features art exhibits, interactive activities, food and beverage trucks and a yoga station.

The community serves as the final resting place for folk hero John Chapman and his legacy is celebrated during the two-day September Johnny Appleseed Festival. Volunteers don traditional attire, offer historical demonstrations and offer a wide selection of food, craft items and festivities revolving around apples.
