Experience the World-Class Year Round Fun in Wichita, KS

Wichita began as a trading post along the Chisholm Trail in the mid 1800s. The city grew on either side of the Arkansas River, became the home of Wichita State University, and was later known as the "Air Capital of the World" for the Beechcraft, Cessna and Stearman planes manufactured here. Points of interest include the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum, the Museum of World Treasures and the Great Plains Transportation Museum.

Things to do

Fairies, knights and pirates provide the entertainment during the annual Spring Renaissance Festival. Highland games and Celtic music accompany dancers, musicians, firebreathers and jugglers during the exciting festivities. Costumed vendors demonstrate their craft and others provide a variety of delicious foods.

Riverfest spans nine days and is considered the biggest event in the state. Festivities include live entertainment, a carnival, traveling exhibits, competitions, a parade, block parties and water-based events. Race down ziplines, take helicopter rides or compete in eating contests. The celebration attracts hundreds of thousands.

The annual September ICT Fest draws talent from across the country. Nearly four dozen bands participate and share their renditions of electronic, hip-hop, pop and rock music during the three-day event.

Hundreds of beers and malt products are on hand for the tasting during the October Midwest Beerfest. Brewers from around the world offer samples while local restaurants create special meals. A silent auction raises monies for children's charities.
