Welcome To Davidson, NC

Davidson College emerged close to the south-central border of the state and welcomed students in 1835. It was around the institution that the community of Davidson emerged along Lake Norman. Homesteads, farms and plantations developed, and the town grew and prospered.

Today, the community boasts tree-lined streets, flowing creeks and an abundance of pathways along the Greenway for walking, jogging and cycling. Guests enjoy visiting the Davidson Chocolate Company, foodie tours and Normal Lake.

Things To Do

Davidson celebrates April is for Arts each year. Throughout the month, there are art exhibits along the downtown streets and on the community green. Dozens of artists from across the country arrive to display their works. The festivities also include live music and food provided by local eateries.

On the first and third Sundays of each month from April through September, all are invited to enjoy the annual Concerts on the Green. Each day, guests have the chance to listen to various musical genres. All are welcome to bring refreshments. However, food and beverages are available.

During the first weekend in May, the community gathers to celebrate Town Day. The many activities of the day include a cake walk, health screenings, scavenger hunts, children's activities and live music along with food and merchandise vendors. The community also hosts its own version of the "Amazing Race" along with a sidewalk chalk art competition.

On the 4th of July, Davidson presents a gala parade and a live concert. The procession traverses along the community streets and features everything from little ones on tricycles to pets decked out in red, white and blue costumes. There are also marching bands, first responders and elaborately decorated floats to start the festivities of the day.

During the first weekend each December, all enjoy the Christmas in Davidson activities. The festivities include a trip to Santa's house, horse-drawn carriage rides, a doggie fashion show and an ugly Christmas sweater contest. There is also a Christmas parade, strolling carolers, a live Nativity scene, live entertainment and festive activities.
