Welcome To Westerville, OH

Westerville was established in the heart of the state in 1810. The Westervelt family donated land on which a church was constructed in 1836. The town subsequently was named in their honor. Area residents fought in the Revolutionary War and played a vital role in the Underground Railroad.

Today, the community remains proud of its culture and heritage and was deemed one of the best suburbs in America. Popular local destinations include the Anti-Saloon League Museum and the Inniswood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve.

Things To Do

All have the chance to learn more about the Chinese culture during the annual Ohio Chinese Festival in February. The festivities occur at the Westerville Central High School where two stages present ballet, Chinese music and dancing, lion dances and martial arts demonstrations. Cultural demonstrations and exhibits include calligraphy, costumes, artwork, artifacts and a tea show.

In June, Alum Creek Park serves as the location for the annual Westerville Community Bands & Arts Festival. Numerous bands offer live performances throughout the festival. Arts and craft artisans display and sell their works. Children are invited to create their own crafts. Food trucks are also on site.

On the 4th of July, the community goes all out in celebration. In the morning, all are welcome to participate in the run/walk and children's fun run. After lunch, spectators enjoy watching an elaborate parade. All then venture to the Westerville South High School for live entertainment, family-friendly games and food. When the sunsets, all enjoy the fireworks display, which coincides with music simulcasted on a local radio station.

From the beginning of July until the end of August, music lovers venture to the amphitheater in Alum Creek Park for the annual Jazz at the Amp concert series.

Each July, the Westerville Chamber of Commerce presents the Music and Arts Festival. The event takes place at Heritage Park. Concerts are provided by local talent or popular recording artists. The artworks on display are created by dozens of artists and local students.
