The Pleasant Weather Means Year Round Fun in Allen, TX

The affluent community was established close to the north-central border of Texas. Originally, Allen served as a rest stop between Dallas and Denison. Settlers began arriving in the mid 1850s and named the town for railroad promoter and politician Ebenezer Allen. However, the community did not experience substantial growth until after the 1950s. Enjoy the chance to dine al fresco at either The Blue Fish or Savour restaurants. Play a few rounds of golf at one of three local courses. Learn to wakeboard at the Hydrous cablepark.

Things To Do

Allen created a twist on the Easter tradition of egg hunting with the annual Eggcellent Family Adventure. Children visit pre-established locations and collect eggs that are filled with treats, information and offers. All also have the chance to meet the Easter Bunny. The Civic Plaza additionally features a variety of games and activities.

From the end of May to the end of June, the Joe Farmer Recreation Center Amphitheater lawn serves as the location for the Monday night Summer Sounds concert series. Pack a picnic, grab a blanket and enjoy a variety of musical offerings.

Taking place during the last weekend in June, the Market Street Allen USA Celebration offers something for everyone. There are games and activities for young and old. Vendors provide refreshments and other items. All enjoy hearing the music presented by local, national and celebrity guests. A dazzling fireworks display thrills guests in the evening.

In November, locals turn out for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies. The 35-foot tree in Allen Civic Plaza illuminates with more than 20,000 lights. Santa and Mrs. Clause greet guests and are accompanied by the reindeer. The event also features live entertainment and surprises.
