Welcome To Alexandria, VA

Welcome to historic Alexandria, Virginia.

Alexandria is located on the Potomac River and is mere miles from the nation's capital of Washington, D.C. Despite the city's large size and close proximity to large cities, Alexandria is a charming city with friendly locals and a robust selection of festivals, musical performances and more.

Old Town is the main historic district in the city and is home to a variety of boutique shops, restaurants and yearly events. In early March, the Saint Patrick's Day Parade travels through the historic district. In addition to a parade, the event also includes a dog and car show.

During the Historic Garden Week flower fans can tour gardens at homes and historic landmarks.

The Alexandria King Street Art Festival turns the street into an open-air art gallery with plenty of wares available for purchase.

Other events during the year celebrate the history of Alexandria. In February, the George Washington Birthday Celebration includes a variety of activities to honor the first president of the country. This includes a parade, a banquet, a dance, Revolutionary War battle reenactments and much more.

During the Christmas season, the Historic Alexandria Candlelight Tour invites revelers to see historic Alexandria sights dressed up for the holidays.
