The winner is up to you, as audience endorsements and YOUR vote will ultimately determine which team is crowned champion of VERSUS.THIS MONTH: Stars vs. Black HolesRepping Stars:Sarafina Nance(@starstrickenSF) is a Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley studying astrophysics. She studies supernovae from both an observational and theoretical perspective. When not doing astrophysics, she focuses her efforts on advocating for women's health Sarafina recently had a preventative double mastectomy and reconstruction. She is passionate about communicating science, whether it be about breast cancer or exploding stars.Repping Black Holes:Katie Mack (@AstroKatie) is a theoretical astrophysicist who studies a range of questions in cosmology, the study of the universe from beginning to end. She currently holds the position of Assistant Professor of Physics at North Carolina State University, where she is also a member of the Leadership in Public Science Cluster. Throughout her career she has studied dark matter, the early universe, galaxy formation, black holes, cosmic strings, and the ultimate fate of the cosmos. Alongside her academic research, she is an active science communicator and has been published in a number of popular publications such as Scientific American, Slate, Sky & Telescope, Time.com, and Cosmos Magazine, where she is a columnist. This event is part of theScience Events Summit, and the hosts and experts will stick around after the show for a chat with attendees on science communication, events production, and any other questions you might have!HOW LIVESTREAM TICKETS WORK: After purchasing a ticket at any price level, you'll receive an email receipt from Eventbrite that includes the streaming link. The show will be streaming as a private livestream on Caveat's YouTube channel (dont search for it on YouTube - it wont show up! The link in your email is the only way to access the show when it starts.). Youll receive another email 2 days before the show; 2 hours before the show; and 10 mins before the show (because theres no shame in not knowing what day or time it is anymore). Those emails will also include the link to the livestream. Just click on the link to watch the show! Shows typically run between 60-90 minutes. If youd like to participate in the live chat & say hi, or ask questions to the hosts, youll need to be logged into your YouTube account - its free, and if you have a Google account, its super easy to sign in. Not necessary to watch the show though! You can buy a ticket even if the show has already started! And, the video of the livestream will be available to watch after the show - so if youve got plans for the actual time of the show, its ok!
