Southern Charm, Hospitality and Festivities Await in Hoover, AL

The Birmingham suburb of Hoover is found in the heart of Alabama. Although the destination was a residential area from the 1930s, the community was renamed in 1967 to honor local business owner William H. Hoover. The thriving community boasts a wide range of big city amenities in addition to outdoor recreation opportunities. The scenic location features woodlands, water features and varying terrain. Some of the more popular destinations found in Hoover include the Aldridge Botanical Gardens, Moss Rock Preserve and the massive Riverchase Galleria shopping mall.

Things To Do

On Friday nights, all summer long, all are invited to kick back, relax and enjoy the films presented during the weekly Friday Night Flicks. The family-friendly movies are displayed on an inflatable screen in Veteran's Park. Each week, visitors enjoy a different film along with refreshments.

On Independence Day, Hoover celebrates the annual holiday by hosting Freedom Fest. Along with a gala parade, the festivities include a classic car show, live concerts and performances. Vendors are on hand to offer various fair foods throughout the day. When evening rolls around, all enjoy the spectacular fireworks presentation.

In September, Hoover hosts the annual Preserve Jazz Over the Mountain Music Festival. Various musicians and vocalists take to the stage to offer a variety of jazz renditions, which include fusion, New Orleans and smooth jazz. The event takes place in the Moss Rock Preserve on the Village Green. Visitors of all ages are welcome.

In October, art lovers venture to Bluffs Park for the annual Bluff Park Art Show. The acclaimed event is recognized nationwide and attracts the talent of artists from across the U.S. who desire to be part of the festivities.

During the first weekend in November, the Preserve provides all with a chance to enjoy handmade art pieces and unleash their inner creativity at the Moss Rock Festival. Dozens of artists attend the event to showcase their works. Young visitors have the chance to make items at the WonderKids Studios and the Kids Planet Projects areas. Food and refreshments are provided through the festivities."
