Bay Area KidFest

Though the Memorial Day weekend event focuses on the youngest members of the community, entire families enjoy the three days of events that include live shows, exhibits and various activities. The festivities also provide rides, a food court and over 100 vendors displaying arts and crafts.

There's Constant Fun Under the Sun in Concord, CA

The community began in 1869 in the west-central region of the state on land previously owned by Salvio Pacheco. Today, the historic downtown area boasts a thriving cultural arts and food scene. Nearby, mountain trails welcome hikers and cyclists. The renowned Napa Valley lies within close proximity, which provides the chance to tour wineries and sample vintages. Popular local destinations include the Contra Costa Canal Trail, the Pixieland theme park and Waterworld California.

Things To Do

In April, Concord hosts the yearly Spring Brews Festival at the historic Todos Santos Plaza. The adults only affair provides the chance to sample beers crafts by dozens of breweries.

From the middle of May through the middle of September, all are invited to the downtown area for the annual Concord Music and Market Series on Tuesday evenings. Along with having the chance to browse through the countless items featured in the farmer's market, music fills the air provided by different performers each week.

Throughout Memorial Day Weekend, Concord hosts the annual KidFest. The three-day event features continuous live entertainment, arts and crafts activities, a giant slide, a petting zoo, pony rides and laser tag along with amusement rides and a carnival. A food court offers fair foods and beverages.

Independence Day brings a gala celebration during the Concord July 4th event. The morning begins with a 5K run for all who care to participate. At 10:00 A.M., a grand parade makes its way along the city streets. In the afternoon, the festival begins with a carnival, food booths, live entertainment and vendor's exhibits. Once the sun goes down, the fireworks begin.

For three days each September, the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church hosts the Contra Costa Greek Festival. Guests enjoy a variety of foods and wines created using authentic Greek recipes. The event also features live Greek music and traditional dancing. The Hellenic marketplace offers many different handmade arts and crafts. There are family activities and fun for all."
