Admire the View and Enjoy the Fun in Escondido, CA

The San Diego suburb lies in a valley surrounded by hills. The landscape also includes three lakes within the city limits or nearby, which combined with the Daley Ranch wildlife preserve, provide ideal locations for spending time outdoors. Other points of interest include the California Center for the Arts, which hosts performance and visual arts events in addition to housing a museum. Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens welcomes guests to tour the facility. The area is also rich in boutique wineries.

Things To Do

The local Kiwanas host the annual Dixon Lake Trout Derby in April. Amateur and experienced anglers are welcome to participate in the event that offers prizes for various categories. The location also offers breakfast and lunch throughout the event. Anglers seven and under have their own kiddie pond in which to learn the sport.

Twice each year, the Escondido Chamber of Commerce hosts the Grand Avenue Festival. Festivities include live entertainment, art exhibits, a craft fair, games, rides and fair food.

During the summer months, Grape Day Park welcomes all to enjoy special presentations during Movies in the Park. Guests relax on the lawn under the stars while enjoying family-friendly entertainment. The park also offers beverages and snacks.

In November, locals feast on popular Latin foods during the annual Escondido Tamale Festival. Local chefs offer their talents by creating the feast. Activities also include various live performances and competitions.

Escondido goes all out for the Christmas season by hosting a number of activities and events during the annual Winter Wonderland. Beginning the first week in December, all are welcome to attend the tree-lighting ceremony. Events also include a festive parade, frolicking in real snow, making seasonal cookies and crafts, caroling, street performers and a Dickens Christmas Village.
