Enjoy the Sights and Sounds of the Bay Area in Milpitas, CA

Milpitas was established on the southern tip of the San Francisco Bay along the foothills of the Diablo Mountain Range. During the late 1700s, the location was nothing more than a crossroads between missions in the San Francisco Bay Area. The land on which Milpitas now stands was eventually converted into three separate ranches.

One century later, parcels of land were sold and turned into farms and residential areas. Today, the diverse community is proud to play an important role in the Silicon Valley. Special areas of interest include Ed Levin County Park, the Ghirardelli Outlet and Golfland.

Things To Do

Toward the end of May, the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual International Festival & BBQ. More than 50 artists attend the event and exhibit their works. Wineries from around the area offer samples of their products. All enjoy indulging on the freshly barbecued delights while listening to live bands. There are also rides and activities for children.

In June, July and August, the Murphy Park welcomes all for the annual Summer Concert Series. A different musical genre is presented each week. Guests also have the chance to enjoy the refreshments provided by local food vendors.

For Independence Day, the Milpitas Parks and Recreation Department hosts the yearly 4th of July Celebration. The festivities begin with a pool party at the sports center. In the early evening, center stage plays host to a live concert. At night, all relax on the lawn and watch the fireworks. Food trucks are on hand throughout the day.

For three days beginning at the end of September, the St. James Orthodox Church hosts the annual Middle Eastern & Greek Food Festival. The event provides guests with the chance to sample a wide variety of ethnic foods ranging from Greek gyros to vegetarian falafel sandwiches. Musicians play traditional music and costumed dancers perform. Children enjoy the inflatables, games and other activities while the adults browse the market place."
