Welcome To Stockton, CA

Welcome to Stockton, California's Sunrise Seaport

Stockton is nicknamed "California's Sunrise Seaport" and is the largest inland seaport in the state of California. The northern California city was a major hub during the California Gold Rush and is home to California's oldest university, the University of the Pacific. Opera companies, theatres, museums, festivals, sports teams and symphonies populate the city and combine to make for one of the best and most cultured destinations in the region.

Things To Do

The Haggin Museum was built in 1931 and is a non-profit museum that features 19th and 20th-century art as well as local historical exhibits. The local exhibits document the history of the Central Valley and its large role in the California Gold Rush of the late 19th century.

The Stockton Arena is the downtown home of several local sports teams but also hosts nationally-known musical acts. Major recording artists such as Bob Dylan, Rob Zombie, Josh Groban, and Carrie Underwood have all made appearances at the large indoor arena.

The Stockton Field Aviation Museum is dedicated to the history of aviation but has a particular emphasis on the aviation of World War II. The non-profit volunteer organization preserves the history of WWII aviation through collecting stories, technical documents, and the material equipment used during the time period.

The San Joaquin Asparagus Festival is the biggest Asparagus celebration in the western world, and takes place in the city of Stockton every April. The festival features live entertainment across three stages as well vendors selling asparagus-themed favorites such as deep fried asparagus and asparagus ice cream.
