Welcome To Ventura, CA

The coastal city of Ventura offers much in the way of outdoor recreation, arts and culture. Explore the dozens of green spaces located here. Go fishing on the Pierpont Bay or learn to surf. Enjoy historic downtown and take in a concert or a live show at the Majestic Ventura Theater. Stop in at the Visitor's Center and see the exhibits. Be in town for one of the many annual events.

Things To Do

For an entire week in May, the Rubicon Theater hosts the annual "Music for Changing Times: Series of Events." Reminisce about the past during the Folk/Rock Project concert where artists present popular music from the 60s and 70s. Budding songwriters between 18 and 38 have the chance to attend a workshop, compete for awards and present their talents during the finalist concert. Events also include an open mic night and a concert presented by past popular groups.

Beginning on the second weekend in July, the city hosts the annual Ventura Music Festival. Enjoy your choice of concerts at either the historic Olivas Adobe or the Ventura College Performing Arts Center. For two weekends, world-class artists entertain audiences with varied genres of music. Whether you are a fan of American folk, Bluegrass, classical or jazz you are sure to enjoy a night of entertainment.

For 10 days each August, the Ventura County Fairgrounds, the Ventura County Fair comes to town. The weekend kicks off with the Ventura County Fair Parade featuring a variety of colorful floats, high school marching bands, classic cars, equestrian clubs and dancers. At the fair, guests have the chance to tour the farm animal and other exhibits, enter an eating contest, enjoy the rides and play the arcade games. There is always plenty of fair foods to enjoy. Entertainment also includes a professional rodeo and nightly grandstand concerts.

Young and old enjoy browsing the September exhibits during the annual Art & Street Painting Festival along Ventura Harbor. The event provides dozens of artists with the opportunity to showcase their works during the arts and fine crafts show. Dozens of street painters thrill spectators with their displays of artwork on the sidewalks along the docks. Ventura Harbor Village is also a great place for dining or doing some shopping. Make a day of your visit by renting a kayak, a peddle boat or a stand-up paddle board and tour the keys.
