The southernmost county of Delaware, Sussex County is home to the first European settlements within the state. More than 190,000 people call Sussex County home, attracting a variety of events and activities throughout the year. Within the county borders, residents and visitors alike can enjoy museums, festivals, parades, fairs and more.

In an effort to gain recognition for the community, local leaders developed this November weekend event, which centers around locally grown apples and a locally homemade food known as scrapple. The event begins with a carnival, a food court offering a variety of popular treats and a street dance. Beginning the next morning, guests have the chance to indulge in an authentic scrapple breakfast. There are games for visitors of all ages that include scrapple carving and scrapple chunking. Other activities include car shows and tractor pulls along with craft and trade shows. The event also features an array of live entertainment.

For four days during the middle of October, Rehoboth Beach says good-bye to summer and welcomes the fall season with the gala jazz festival offering daily concerts at five venues located throughout the community. Local bars and restaurants join in on the celebration by providing unique dining choices. Diners also enjoy live entertainment with their meals. Locals and visiting jazz fans alike come to hear renditions performed by everyone from new talent to celebrity guests.

For a weekend toward the end of October, locals offer a number of activities geared toward celebrating Halloween. The fun begins with a family movie presented in Grove Park. Guests are also welcome to take a hayride, participate in beach games, compete in the broom tossing contest and go trick-or-treating by the light of lanterns. The event also features a number of events that include a costume parade and a costumed dog parade. Enjoy a historical tour of the community by trolley car and hear the music provided by live bands.

Movie fans and film industry professionals alike gather every November for this amazing five-day event that showcases around 100 American and International films deemed to be the best in their genre. The entries consist of everything from full-length features to shorts and documentaries and contain a variety of subject matter. In addition to the chance to see the movies, guests may attend seminars, visit with celebrity guests and attend other special events. A special Children's Cinema Corner provides entertainment for younger film fans.
