Art in the Park

Welcome to Marietta, a Prized Southern Community

Marietta, Georgia is one of the largest suburbs of the Atlanta metro area and has a friendly community atmosphere that welcomes visitors with ease. The city has many historical ties and is particularly known for its civil war era sites and landmarks. Marietta's active town square, theaters, music venues, museums, and universities all combine to make Marietta one of the nicest places in all of Georgia.

Things To Do

The Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is a memorial for the Civil War and is a preserved historic battlefield. The park encompasses almost 3,000 acres and features a visitor center, a restored farm house, monuments, cannon emplacements, and over 15 miles of hiking trails.

The Earl Smith Strand Theater is located on the historic Marietta square and hosts a variety of events throughout the year including film screenings, concerts, charity events, and theatrical performances. The theater is also home to Atlanta's only local theatre company dedicated to musical theater, and the group performs well-known musicals regularly.

Six Flags White Water is a water theme park located in the Marietta area and provides fun for the whole family during the summer months. The park spans 69 acres and includes a number of unique water activities including many large water slides.

The Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum commemorates the classic American novel Gone With the Wind by Georgia-native Margaret Mitchell as well as the subsequent film. Memorabilia, rare prints, and costumes all combine to memorialize Gone With the Wind and add to the presence of Civil War history in the city of Marietta.
