This annual December event welcomes tens of thousands to participate in the 26.2 mile foot race that begins in Waikiki and finishes at historic Diamond Head. Considered one of the most highly attended marathons in the country, the route provides runners with the chance to travel along the spectacular coast on beaches, through parks and past monuments. Watching the event costs nothing, but participating requires an entrance fee.

This extravagant weekend May event not only celebrates the cultures and heritage of the islands, but also invites people from Alaska and as far away as Okinawa to share traditions with locals and visitors. Athletes, dancers, musicians and other artists demonstrate their talents and traditions through arts and crafts, food, music and live demonstrations. All people representing the Asia-Pacific region come to learn about and share each other's customs, history and traditions. The festivities also include a Grand Parade through Waikiki.

Descendants of the beloved king honor his life every June by presenting a lavish parade. Festive floats and riders on horseback represent the royal family and members of the court. All proceed down the street while wearing colorful costumes. Riders and horse alike wear garlands of beautiful flowers. The procession continues to the commemorative statue of the ruler and onto the park that bears his name.
