Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival

From the third week in June through July 4th, the community celebrates the country's freedom through this gala event that features everything from races and live entertainment to fireworks displays. See parades daily, attend car shows and live demonstrations in addition to movie night at the ball park. Feast on a good old-fashioned barbecue. The event promises over 70 activities geared for visitors of all ages.

Welcome to Cedar Rapids, The City of Five Seasons

Known as the City of Five Seasons, Cedar Rapids is the second largest city in the state of Iowa and is home to a bustling art and cultural scene that features numerous museums, theatres, and arts organizations. The city is also home to several universities and colleges, over 3,000 acres of parks and recreational spaces, multiple minor league sports teams, and an active industry and government.

Things To Do

The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library highlights the history and culture of the Czech and Slovak people. Through its many exhibitions and collections the center hopes to tell stories that help people of all backgrounds embrace self-identity and to examine the meaning of freedom.

The Paramount Theatre is a restored 6-story building which was a movie palace and vaudeville theatre in the late 1920s and is now restored as an example of that time. Today, the theatre presents orchestras, concerts, comedians, and other arts events, and is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Brucemore is a historic estate that spans 26 acres and is the only site in Iowa that is preserved by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The mansion has been home to several distinguished families since its construction in the late 19th-century but is now a community center for the Cedar Rapids area and hosts festivals, concerts, tours, outdoor theatre, education, and family activities throughout the year.

The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is located in downtown Cedar Rapids and hosts collections by noteworthy Iowa artists such as Grant Wood and Marvin Cone. The art museum also hosts many temporary exhibitions and collections of contemporary art throughout the year."
