Welcome to Meridian, ID, US

The Onweiler Farm was the first settlement here until pioneers arrived in the early 1890s to establish homesteads along the Boise River in the southwestern region of the state. The settlements grew into an agricultural community.

Today, residents enjoy all of the benefits offered in large cities while having the safety and security of a little community. Popular destinations found in Meridian include the Meridian Speedway, the Roaring Springs waterpark and the Eagle Island State Park.

Things To Do

Each Friday night during June, July and August, all are invited to Settlers Park for CableONE Movie Night. Some organizations bring inflatables for the kids, and others offer giveaways. Concessions are also offered. At dusk, all sprawl out on blankets or relax in lawn chairs to enjoy the film, which changes weekly.

Residents enjoy old-fashioned fun during the 4th of July Independence Day festivities. Local bands provide live entertainment while families having fun on the inflated obstacle course, participate in the three-legged races and hula hoop contests. Food vendors supply a large selection of popular fair foods. In the evening, fireworks light up the night sky.

On a weekend in September, the M. Kleiner Memorial Park hosts the annual Community Block Party. The festivities include inflatables for small children, bubble soccer games, a climbing wall and family-friendly competitions. University mascots have a comical dance-off and live bands perform. Theater groups also perform live. Food trucks ensure that none go hungry or thirsty.

To ensure the safety of community youth, local businesses and organizations host the annual Trunk or Treat event. The event takes place at the Meridian City Hall Plaza where adults dress-up, set-up tables and prepare to hand out treats to thousands of kids. There is a costume parade and a DJ spins tunes. The Ballet Folklorico also performs.

The holiday season kicks off on December 1 during the annual Christmas in Meridian events. The festivities begin with the Winter Lights Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting. Elves assist Santa in getting the community lit. Throughout the month, residents enjoy concerts, outdoor activities, shopping opportunities and other seasonal events.
