Welcome To Southfield, MI

Experience Hometown Fun in Southfield, MI

Southfield lies along either side of River Rouge in the southeastern region of the lower peninsula. The first settlements were established here in the early 1800s by pioneers from other areas within Michigan and from as far away as New York. Today, the diverse community offers world-class dining and entertainment. Outdoor enthusiasts find more than 50 miles of nature trails for biking and hiking in addition to the ball courts and sports arena, which encompass 770 acres of green spaces. Cultural exhibits are found at the Park West Gallery and the Southfield Historical Museum.

Things To Do

Each June, Southfield celebrates the Summer Solstice with a variety of activities. The main stage provides live entertainment, vendors offer plenty of food. Children enjoy many different games and activities and later participate in the Kid's 1/3 mile Fun Run. Older residents have the chance to participate in the 5K run/walk.

For three days in June, the Chaldean Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Chaldean Festival in Southfield. The carnival-like atmosphere features rides and games along with live entertainment and plenty of fair foods. Merchants also display and sell their crafts and other products.

In July, Southfield presents the annual Festival of Hope. For four days, the Hope United Methodist Church hosts the event, which includes carnival rides, food and live entertainment. Guests of all ages are invited to play arcade games and enjoy the cultural music, dance and live demonstrations.

In August, the Oakland County Moms host the annual Southfield SumMore Fest. The family-friendly event features a nature area, a petting farm, kite construction and flying demonstrations and a health fair. Other activities include a kid's area filled with inflatables and a vintage baseball game.

The diverse population of Southfield comes together in November to celebrate their individual cultures during the annual International Festival. Residents of various European, Middle Eastern and Polynesian descent present cultural exhibits and demonstrations. There is also an international bazaar filled with arts and crafts items. All also enjoy the selection of cuisine options."
