In commemoration of local resident J. Sterling Morton who established the holiday, the city offers free trees, a garden show and various demonstrations along with a parade, chili cooking competition, craft shows and numerous educational activities during the last weekend in April. The family fun event also offers a number of games and activities. Musical guests provide live entertainment and carriage rides give spectators the chance to tour the community.

The annual Memorial Day weekend event takes a look at the Victorian history of the community and commemorates former resident Lady Evelene Brodstone Vestey. Considered the Victorian capital of the state, Superior hosts a parade, craft fair and dances along with special children's activities, food presentations and a traditional Victorian tea. Guests might also journey about the community and view the many exquisite, historic Victorian homes.

The June weekend event commemorates the history of the community by celebrating the lives of everyone from the farm families who settled the area to the railroad that provided transportation. See antique equipment and implement exhibits, watch artisans demonstrate crafts and centuries old trades. Tour the museums, the railroad or learn a new skill. Take part in some friendly competition and enjoy the food.

The community celebrates the western heritage of the Midwest with this spectacular event that features seven pro-rodeo events along with daredevil presentations, chariot races and chuckwagon races in the massive main arena. Held every July and spanning a full week, the fair also features numerous animal, agricultural and homemade exhibits along with a variety of vendors and activities.

Beginning in the third week of August and spanning 11 days, Grand Island celebrates another year of agriculture with the fair that has over 140 years of history. See animal exhibits representing just about every farm animal imaginable. Marvel at the variety of new equipment at the trade shows. Attend any one of the entertaining competitions that include auto races, tractor pulls and demolition derbys. Designated areas provide younger guests with the opportunity to compete and win prizes. The event also features a variety of live entertainment shows along with food and a massive carnival.
