Why are players telling me Youre 2, or Im 2? Whats a 2? Its volleyball strategy. Say what? Yes, the group is trying to raise the level of the game by incorporating standard vb practices. We all know the team is allowed to hit the ball 3 times before it goes over the net. Upon the serve, it is expected a player in the back row defends the serve with a bump pass. This is the first hit. The bump pass is expected to go to the player in the front center position. This is the second hit, or 2. Other players should yield to that player unless help is called for (help, take it, yours, and the popular you, you, you) or the ball is obviously going directly to another player.

The 2 player should then try to pass the ball to one of the front corner players for an attempted spike. The higher the pass, the better. Why use this method? Its more fun when more players are involved and the attacks tend to be more successful than when players just smash the ball into the net. Also, it greatly reduces the chance of collisions when we all know who should be going after the ball. Please ask if you have any questions.
