Lane County Fair

Enjoy the Beauty, Recreation and Performing Arts Possibilities in Eugene, OR

The city lies in the Willamette Valley in the west-central region of the state. In addition to serving as home of the University of Oregon, the community is prized for its spectacular beauty, recreational opportunities and fine arts venues. In fact, the city's motto is "A Great City for the Arts and Outdoors." The community was named for Eugene Skinner who established a trading post and post office here in the 1850s. Popular activities include hiking Spencer Butte, cycling on the Ridgeline Trail, touring the wine country and shopping in the boutique galleries and shops.

Things To Do

The annual, Spring Willamette Valley Music Festival takes place on the U of O campus. Activities include art exhibits, fire dances, aerial acrobatics, music workshops and live concerts on various stages.

For an entire weekend, the community presents the annual Scholastic Book Fair to the delight of students and avid readers. The event provides the chance to find new releases for up to 80 percent off the retail price. The event also includes a cast of costumed characters who entertain youngsters.

Clans from far and wide welcome all to help them commemorate their heritage during the annual Eugene Scottish Festival. Celtic musicians, dancers and vocalists provide ongoing entertainment. There is also a dog parade and a Scottish museum.

For more than two weeks each summer, Beall Concert Hall & The Hult Center for the Performing Arts present the Oregon Bach Festival. Classical music lovers converge for a variety of concerts presented by musicians and vocalists. The event often attracts well-known artists. Activities also include puppet shows that entertain children.
