Shut Up & Write! Philadelphia

Start your week with an hour or two of writing at LOVETT LIBRARY! Weve discovered that its strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if its true for you at 6:30 PM on Mondays (except national holidays). Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice.

Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

6:30 - SESSION 1
Quick intros (what are your goals for the night?)
then...

Timer starts: write for around 50 minutes.

7:35 - SESSION 2
Take off or check in (how is the writing going?)
then...

Keep writing!

8:30 Take off.

SEATING: Depends on the week. We're generally in the back room (kids' room) on the ground floor.

LAPTOPS: The library has WiFi (bring your library card for easy access). There are some outlets, but it is advisable to come with laptops pre-charged just in case all of those tables are taken. Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block out conversations by other patrons.

ACCESSIBILITY: The library is wheelchair accessible.

TRAVEL / PARKING: There is on-street parking. The library is a short walk from Regional Rail if you are arriving by public transit.

OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens for a few minutes at 6:30 or after 8:30. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up. If we've already started writing, pull up a chair and get started, then check-in with me after the session. (Ill be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
