Difficulty: Level 2 (Slower pace) - OR - Level 3 (Moderate pace) Not for beginners. Recommended only if you have completed at least a few Level 2 hikes with the club or on your own.

Distance: 5 miles, more or less

    Duration: about 2-2 hrs

    Legal Orange: Not required

    Headlamp or Flashlight: REQUIRED!!!

Two hikes, two leaders. Same trails, same elevation gain, same distance, only at different speeds.

For the fastest one you have Tony and/or Steve leading a very intense exercise hike, going quite fast up and down the hills (without running) while your muscles and lungs are screaming as you try to keep up with them (you will be running).

Carolyn leads with a steady, quick pace for well-conditioned hikers. You will get a strong workout on this one.

All are good. Good for your cardio, good for your strength, good for your head.

Bring water, a snack, proper footwear, and a headlamp.
Feeding the wolves and bears is strictly prohibited.

    6:00 pm, SHARP!

    Tony, Carolyn, and Steve

    A couple of serious points:

    - THE TICKS ARE OUT! And they're everywhere! Permethrin on your clothes (never on your skin), DEET or Picaridin for your skin, and stay on the trail and out of the vegetation. Check for them on you frequently duning the hike and a thorough check after the hike. Then a shower when you get home and you're good to go.

    - A headlamp or small flashlight is mandatory.

    - Hydrating well prior to hitting the trail and carrying additional water on the trail is a must. Bring water!

    - Wear clothing appropriate for the weather, keeping in mind that you will heat up quickly! Synthetic wicking and ventilating materials throughout every layer are best for keeping you dry while sweating. Avoid cotton! Wet clothing can cause hypothermia even above freezing.

    - Our trails are rough and loaded with toe-stubbing, ankle-twisting rocks and roots. Wear appropriate footwear! Also be prepared for seasonal trail conditions. There are often plenty of wet, muddy spots on our trail.
