Welcome to Clarksville, TN, US

The city lies close to the northern border of the state along the Cumberland River. James Robertson obtained the land in 1775 and along with other settlers established the community. Today, the thriving city is known as "Tennessee's Top Spot." The many parks, trails and the Cumberland River provide an abundance of options for outdoor recreation.

Sights to see while in Clarksville include the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, Dunbar Cave and Liberty Park and Marina.

Things To Do

From the end of May until the middle of October, families and friends gather at Heritage, Liberty or MacGregor Park for the annual Movies in the Park event. The G or PG films begin at dusk. All are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics, relax and enjoy the show.

On Mondays and Wednesdays from the first week of June through July, all participate in the fun and activities taking place at various city parks during the Mayor's Summer Night Lights. From 5:30 to 9:00 P.M. each night, guests of all ages play games, enjoy the live music and browse through the wares that vendors display. Refreshments are also available.

The community enjoys an old fashioned celebration during the annual Independence Day event at Liberty Park on July 3. Along with a variety of food vendors, visitors enjoy live concerts. Once the sun sets, the park hosts an elaborate fireworks display.

During the second weekend in September, all congregate along the Cumberland for the annual Riverfest. The festivities include a multitude of art exhibits and live music performed by local and regional musicians and vocalists. Food vendors are also on hand to provide refreshments.

All are encouraged to bring their appetites on the first weekend in October to the annual Clarksville BBQ Bash. Teams from far and wide compete to see who has the best BBQ recipe. Live music entertains guests. Children spend their time on the inflatables and adults participate in the corn hole tournament. All are welcome to test their throwing skills at the dunking booth. BBQ meals are also available.
