After the first few days of September, the state fair opens up with a bang and runs for 11 days. From deep fried Twinkies to fine art, it's all in there. Rides, animals, live music, and more draw thousands. Interesting competitions and maggot sandwiches are unique to this state fair, but are not required activities. Of course, there are a lot of games and little yellow ducky grabs for toddler prizes.
