Welcome To Orem, UT

Orem was established in the early years of the 20th century and was named for the President of the Salt Lake and Utah Railroad. The Provo suburb lies among scenic splendor along the shores of Utah Lake and the foothills of Mount Timpanogos.

Nearby Provo Canyon remains one of the town's most popular attractions. The destination features six parks and offers the ideal location for enjoying camping, cycling, hiking and fishing among other outdoor recreational activities.

Things To Do

Each May, the Polynesian members of the community welcome all to learn about their culture and heritage during the Utah Pasifika Festival. Events include live performances by traditional dance groups and musicians. There are also children's activities planned. Vendors offer guests the chance to sample Polynesian cuisine and buy handmade crafts.

Scera Shell Outdoor Theatre serves as one of the locations hosting events during the annual Orem Summerfest, which begins the first week in June. Festivities take place at City Center Park and Scera Park. The event kicks off with the Grand Parade, which is followed by a baby contest, a car show, children's activities, live concerts and a 5K run.

The Orem Arts Council sponsors a number of events throughout the year, which include the annual Concerts in the Park series. Each Monday evening all are welcome to attend a variety of scheduled musical concerts and theater presentations. Other events include the children's Tumbleweeds Film Festival.

After Labor Day, the community hosts the annual Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, which is considered the largest of its kind. Along with bringing nationally known storytellers to entertain school students, locals of all ages have the chance to attend live performances presented by special guests. Events also include a storytelling convention and a storytelling contest.
