Welcome To Everett, WA

The city lies on the Port Gardner Peninsula along the Snohomish River in the Puget Sound area. Dennis Brigham established the first homestead here. Slowly, other pioneers followed suit. However, the location was not officially declared a town until nearly three decades later.

Today, Everett boasts having the largest public marina on the western coast. Other points of interest include the Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens, the Nishiyama Garden and the street sculptures found throughout the downtown area.

Things To Do

In June gardening enthusiasts journey to the Sorticulture Garden Arts Festival at Legion Memorial Park. More than 200 booths are set up across the park. Guests have the chance to purchase plants, lawn ornaments and have questions answered. There are also refreshments and children's activities available during the three-day festival.

From the end of June until the end of August, the summer air comes alive with the sounds of music during the Music in the Parks series. On Thursday and Saturday evenings, the music emanates from Port Gardner Landing. Each concert features a different music genre. On Thursday mornings, children and their parents venture to the Thornton A. Sullivan Park for children's concerts.

Beginning in July, all are invited to the Thornton A. Sullivan Park for the annual Cinema Under the Stars event. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. Concessions are sold on site. Pre-movie entertainment is provided before the sun goes down. Family-friendly entertainment selections include arts and crafts activities and a science show.

From the middle of July and continuing for two weeks, the downtown area hosts the unusual Word on the Street event. Vintage typewriters sit on decorated tables on various downtown streets. Each day, the residents are posed a question. All are invited to sit at a typewriter and enter a response.

Beginning December first, Everett welcomes the holiday season during the Wintertide Celebration. The festivities include Santa's arrival, photos with Santa, gingerbread house decorating, along with arts and crafts for kids. Children are also encouraged to attend the shows presented on the KIDSTAGE. Free refreshments and a bonfire are also provided.
