Experience Unique Opportunities for Fun in Issaquah, WA

The valley community of Issaquah was created along the shores of Lake Sammamish and is surrounded by the Issaquah Alps and the Sammamish Plateau. Issaquah was originally formed by miners who worked in nearby Cougar or Squak Mountain. A successful lumber industry followed. The location eventually attracted major industries. Currently, the scenic community attracts all looking for outdoor recreation. Other attractions include the Cougar Mountain Zoo and the Historic Train Museum.

Things To Do

For Father' Day, classic car enthusiasts of all ages enjoy attending the annual Fenders on the Street event. Hundreds of vintage autos line Front Street for viewing. There is also live entertainment, family-based activities and a classic car contest. All take part in the afternoon cruise to the popular Triple XXX Drive-in.

Throughout the summer, the community hosts the yearly Gas Station Blues concert series. The weekly concerts occur in the evenings at the Historic Shell Station. The no-cost event welcomes guests of all ages to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the talent.

Each June, all venture to the downtown area to enjoy World Music Day. Numerous musicians perform on the sidewalks and streets of the community along with indoors at various venues. Many different types of music genres are represented, which means something for all to enjoy.

In the beginning of October, the local salmon hatchery releases the fish to the area's waterways. In celebration of the event, Issaquah residents enjoy the annual Salmon Days event. The two-day festivities offer activities for guests of all ages. Nearly 200,000 people attend the yearly festival, which includes a Grande Parade, an arts and crafts marketplace and international foods. Five stages provide live entertainment, and the hatchery offers exhibits and tours.

Just before Halloween, Issaquah commemorates the upcoming holiday by hosting the annual Zombie Walk. Willing participants don the costumes of the undead and creep their way along Front Street. The event also includes a flash mob dance to Michael Jackson's Thriller. The Issaquah Brewhouse hosts a party after the walk featuring live entertainment."
